Judy currently serves as the Parent Coordinator at Pate Elementary School. She earned her Specialist Certification in Special Education, and recently obtained Triple P Parenting Certification. Judy has been recognized as the Teacher of the Year and the Educator of the Year, and has served as President of the Association of Parents and Teachers. She is active on the School Improvement Council and the School Leadership Team.  Having worked with young children with brain-related disorders, Judy sees BrainMinders as “Pilot’s ideal way to educate children on prevention of brain injury.  It’s an opportunity we can’t afford to miss.”

Judy is a member of the Darlington County Mental Health Association, having served on the Executive Board. She is active in Trinity United Methodist Church and in Alpha Delta Kappa National Honorary Sorority for teachers, having served in various leadership roles. She has twice received a Key to the City of Darlington in recognition of her community service. She is married to Rodney, who is the Darlington City Manager. Their daughter, Laura Langley, is a child counselor with Rubicon Counseling Center. Daughter Maggie Blackmon works in accounting for the City of Florence. She and Roy have two sons, Royce and Rivers. Judy’s hobbies include reading, gardening, and bridge.  She loves to spend time with her family at the lake.

Club:  Member of the Pilot Club of Darlington since 1988; former Anchor Club member and officer. Served as President (2), President Elect (3), Vice President (3), Secretary (2), Director (12) and PIF Representative, and Vice Chair of the Pilot Club of Darlington Foundation (10).

District:  Served as South Carolina District Governor, Governor Elect, Fundraising Coordinator, Leadership Coordinator, BrainMinders Liaison, Chair of the Mildred Henry Davenport Award Committee, and Chair of the Nominating Committee. 

International:  Serves as PI Director. Previously served as PIF Trustee and Scholarships Division Chair (4). Also served as PI Projects Coordinator, Pilot International Retention Team, and Heritage Center Fundraising Committee.  She says, “It is the commitment to serving others that keeps our organization strong.  It is truly amazing what a group of Pilots can accomplish when they work as a team.”
