Welcome to the Alabama District Pilot International Website!

The Alabama District consists of 32 clubs and approximately 890 members.  Pilot International was chartered on October 18, 1921 in Macon, Georgia, USA by forty local businesswomen as an international service organization.   The name “Pilot” was inspired by the riverboat pilots of the early 1900's.  These pilots had the ability to steer a "true course" through challenging conditions and obstacles.  They were leaders and today so are the Pilots of Pilot International.

Pilot International has approximately 500 clubs in 20 districts in seven countries with more than 25,000 adult and youth members.   Friendship and Service are the principles of Pilot with “True Course Ever” as our motto.  Pilot colors are Green (life and vigor) and Gold (sincerity of purpose) and our Emblem is a riverboat pilot’s wheel with eight spokes.

Governor Sherre's September Message

From start to finish, the Pilot Club of Lawrence County Charter Celebration was absolutely perfect. The Charter signing and installation of officers and members, was very impressive.   Kay Chandler and the Decatur Pilots were the driving force for this successful event.

The Alabama District was honored to have members of the 2010-2011 Pilot International Executive Board attend and take part in the celebration held on August 14th at the Moulton Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Those attending were: PI President Susan Hoffmann, President Elect Beverly Wilks, 1st Vice President Winnie Brewer, Secretary Judy Langley, Director Suzanne Kendra, Director and ECR for the Alabama District Gwen Yarbrough. Past PI Presidents: Pat Jarvis, Cindy Weaver and Jo Vaughn. Past District Governors, District Officers, members of the Decatur Pilot Club and many other guests.

President Claudette Proctor and the Lawrence County Pilots are looking forward to building their club in Friendship and Service. Love gifts may be sent to Leslie Rikard, Treasurer, PC of Lawrence County, P.O. Box 2441, Decatur, AL 35603. Thank you to all who have sent gifts.

A big thank you to all Area Leaders for their informative and creative workshops. There is an abundance of talent in our clubs, including good cooks. Share the information and ideas you were given with your club members.

I appreciate the clubs who sent their plans of work, budgets and PEP reports by the September 15th deadline. If you have not done so, please send as soon as possible. This Information is needed for District Officers to become familiar with your club. If you have any questions, or if there is anything your DAC can do for you, please let us know.

September is Foundation month. Select your club Sweetheart and send the PIF contribution to Pilot Headquarters by the September 30th deadline. Check out the Founders Day script and Historic Facts on the PI website. This is a good program for your October Share Pilot event.

Your District Officers and Pilots from Dothan are planning an informative and fun Fall Council meeting. You will enjoy special speakers, entertainment, workshops and Market Place. I would love to have all clubs represented. Bring your new members and share the Pilot spirit of friendship in Eufaula on November 6-7. You should have already made your reservations at Lakepoint State Park. Send your registration and Market Place table fees to Treasurer Janice Clark by October 1st..  Help us celebrate and give thanks for what we do as Pilots.
