Welcome to the Alabama District Pilot International Website!

The Alabama District consists of 33 clubs and approximately 890 members.  Pilot International was chartered on October 18, 1921 in Macon, Georgia, USA by forty local businesswomen as an international service organization.   The name “Pilot” was inspired by the riverboat pilots of the early 1900's.  These pilots had the ability to steer a "true course" through challenging conditions and obstacles.  They were leaders and today so are the Pilots of Pilot International.  

Pilot International has approximately 500 clubs in 20 districts in seven countries with more than 25,000 adult and youth members.   Friendship and Service are the principles of Pilot with “True Course Ever” as our motto.  Pilot colors are Green (life and vigor) and Gold (sincerity of purpose) and our Emblem is a riverboat pilot’s wheel with eight spokes.

Hello Alabama Pilots!  As we begin this new Pilot year, we thank the 2008-2009 DAC team for their dedication, leadership, and friendship.  We "Plotted a True Course" through "Friendship and Service Around the World" and now we are ready to spread our wings, "Soaring on Pilot Wings" as we "Celebrate Pilot".

Thank you for allowing me to serve as your 2009-2010 Governor of the Alabama District.  I am so excited and honored to work with each of you this year.

Your district officers have been hard at work getting ready for a successful year.  Plans are underway for our Fall Council to be held at the lodge of beautiful Lake Guntersville State Park in Guntersville on October 24-25.  Plan to attend, "Falling for Pilot, Festival Style".  The view is breathtaking! Words cannot describe what the eyes behold at this state park and in late October, the scenery will be painted in golds and greens, reds and oranges.  You don't want to miss Fall Council.

I hope you are packed and headed to San Diego for the PI/PIF Convention July 7-10.  The Alabama District picture is scheduled Tuesday, July 7 at 8:30 p.m.  This is after the opening meeting.  We are the second group scheduled and we will follow the Bahamas District.  Our District Meeting will be Wednesday morning, July 8 at 7 a.m.  Delegates and attendees, please check your registration packet for complete schedules and hotel diagrams.  There will be something for everyone and lots of information to take back to your club.

The dedication ceremony for the Golf and Yacht Club (the miniature golf

course) at Camp ASCCA will begin at 10:00 a.m. and tours will be available of the facilities and golf course after the ceremony.  Lunch will follow the tours.  Many guests will be at Camp ASCCA that day and all Pilots are invited as well.  During the ceremony, the Alabama District and Rotary will be recognized.

We have also finalized plans for Pilot Day at Camp ASCCA.  It will be August 5 at 10:00 a.m.  Tours will be available and lunch will be served after the tours.  This will give all Pilots a second opportunity to visit Camp ASCCA and tour the beautiful miniature golf course.

One of our goals this year is to increase our membership in the Alabama District.  Our Area Leaders are working to meet the needs in their area.  Workshops will begin in August.  Your area leaders will be contacting you soon.

Thank you to those serving as 2009-2010 Appointees, to our Past Governors who provide wisdom and leadership, and to the newly installed club officers.  Please call on the DAC if you need us.  We are your district officers and are here to help in any way we can.
